Invasive Memories
2025 — filmic VR-experience
(producer, director, programmer, VFX)
„Invasive Memories“ is an interactive, filmic VR experience with live performance elements, which will transport the viewers into the fleeting memories of an increasingly demented person. Filmed in 360° and played back in Unity (3D engine), the last visit of our aging protagonist in her apartment becomes a constantly changing „journey“ through vague memories.
The viewer will experience for herself how fleeting memories can be. Since in VR the viewer’s gaze is tracked at all times, we use this to interactively merge the filmed memories.
When the viewer turns away, the memories change. At the beginning these are only small changes, but after a few minutes this becomes a dream-like experience in which no memory remains linear. Memories of lively family celebrations merge with situations of a banal everyday life, with memories of our protagonist’s husband and his death, of lonely moments and other diffuse situations with her family. It is the banal memories of an everyday life that impose itselves on the viewers. In virtual reality there is no virtual escape, at least until one arrives back in the real time of our protagonist and she takes a last look at her old apartment.
The experience contains about 5 to 6 hours of filmed scenes!

This Video is a screencapure from the current prototyp within unity and shows the experince in VR. To showcase the concept and the blending of memories the test-viewer does not linger on specific scenes for too long, as a real viewer might do.
This Video shows the desktop version of the experience. Here debugging overlays are turned on, to give a glimpse of what happens in the background.
This Video was a very early montage, how the final experience might look. At the end there is a timelapse of the dismanteling of our set. (there is no sound)
